For a commissioned portrait, I work principally from photographs. All that is strictly necessary is one clear photograph of your subject, the clearer the better, but several photographs can be very helpful for getting a better idea of your animal’s look and personality. If you don’t have the ‘perfect’ photograph and are unable to take any new ones, I’m happy to see what I can do with what you have. If you are local, I may be able to come and take the portrait photographs for you.

The prices depend on what media and size you’d like your portrait to be, as well as the complexity of the project, such as the level of detail, whether you’d like a ‘head and shoulders’ or a full body portrait, or if you’d like more than one subject. I only quote a final price once I have seen your photographs and we have had a good discussion about what you would like.

Most of my work is in one of three mediums - Oils, Graphite Pencils, and Prismacolor Pencils (a wax based coloured pencil that I import from America as I just love the effects they can produce).

Prices for the typical pet portrait start at £170 for Graphite Pencils, £220 for Prismacolor Pencils, and £450 for Oil paintings. However, if you were looking to commission something on a smaller budget, please do enquire as there are often options available.
